HR Trends Taking Place Right Now

Times have radically changed over the years and so have trends; however, the fundamental principle remains intact. A recent study reveals that 60% of employees expect a job change, putting pressure on HR professionals to improve their game to attract and retain top talent.

Estimated to reach $ 30 billion by 2025, the business of creating innovative human resources is on the rise. With that said, here are three major HR trends that we’ll discuss next:

Personalization

2019 is all about individuality and personalization; As an organization, you must be aware of the individual wishes and capabilities of employees. Historically, HR departments have been known to use their “one size fits all” approach, but moving to a more modern approach that takes into account the needs of each individual will make a big difference. Not only will it open the doors to a new level of participation, but companies will reap the benefits as well.

2. Integration with AI

Along with other areas of the industry, technology has also played an important role in the hiring process. “We are looking for ways we can use artificial intelligence or machine learning to automate the talent acquisition experience so we can dive deep into personal relationships,” says Lisa Sterling, Ceridian’s director of culture and people. Likewise, Irina Novoselsky, CEO of CareerBuilder, said that they have integrated machine learning into their job search platform to

touch of personalization. For example, people looking for Disney jobs on CareerBuilder may see the term “customer” instead of “guest,” which is a change from standard lingo for the entertainment industry.

While AI integration makes tedious work much easier and faster, it doesn’t always address everything. Triplebyte co-founder and CEO Harj Taggar says, “It does not help with bias, and in fact exacerbates it,” in an interview with HR Drive.

3. Taking diversity to the next level

Today’s HR leaders are embracing a new definition of diversity that goes beyond LGBTQIA status, gender, race, or religious affiliations to include a multitude of other factors such as:

Educational level: Today’s human resource leaders no longer focus on the number of degrees as much as the potential a candidate possesses. Big companies like Google and Ernst & Young are looking for candidates with the necessary skills, rather than focusing on their degree, which is no longer required.

Geo-location — Remote workers coming from rural or suburban areas can now interact with team members on site.

General Affiliation: The modern workplace now also spans five generations, their respective cultural norms and communication.

A successful company is one that can accept changes over time, is able to adapt to new standards and ensures a pleasant work culture for its employees. And HR leaders who realize the importance of HR marketing will be the true champions of 2019.
