The future of healthcare is taking shape before our eyes with developments in digital healthcare technologies, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality / augmented reality, 3D printing, robotics or nanotechnology.

We must know the latest developments so that we can control the technology and not the other way around. The future of healthcare lies in working side by side with technology and healthcare workers must embrace emerging healthcare technologies in order to stay relevant in the years to come.

Robotic surgery
Robotic surgery is used in minimally invasive procedures and helps with precision, control and flexibility. During robotic surgery, surgeons can perform very complex procedures that are otherwise either extremely difficult or impossible.

As technology improves, it can be combined with augmented reality to allow surgeons to see additional important information about a patient in real time while they work. While the invention raises concerns that it will eventually replace human surgeons, it is likely to be used only to aid and enhance the work of surgeons in the future.
